At L'Artiste Musclé restaurant we serve traditional French food, cooked avec amour. Set in the small charming square that is Shepherd Market, we opened our doors in 1971 when the market was still a red light district. We have grown from a French wine bar into a small bistro that now serves warm, hearty French cuisine, all for a very reasonable price.
Of course, we have also carefully curated a wonderful selection of reds and whites that are the perfect accompaniment to our tasty French fare. What we serve
We provide an authentic taste of France, and give diners the chance to experience beautiful, traditional French cuisine at reasonable prices. Our bistro is a little pocket of France tucked away in the heart of Mayfair. You can find our bistro at the corner of Shepherd Street and White Horse Street, between Piccadilly and Curzon Street.
A little history
L'Artiste Musclé restaurant first opened its doors all the way back in 1971 and was the creation of an Olympic wrestler who was also a silversmith and a sculptor, hence the name. At that time L'Artiste Musclé was solely a French wine bar that occasionally served food. We quickly evolved into a bistro and since that time have grown to be a favourite with tourists, regulars, local residents and workers.

Our à la carte menu is composed of all the favourites you would expect from an authentic French bistro including filling bœuf bourguignon to creamy chicken and leak.

Our specially selected wine list is exclusively French and very reasonably priced. We make serious effort to procure wines that are not only of high quality but also of excellent value.
